Doljjong (Jjongddol)
Doljjong (Jjongddol) — is the Pet Rock of member of the South Korean boy band SEVENTEEN Yoon Jeonghan.
History
Jeonghan first mentioned his new friend on May 5, 2021 on Weverse. He uploaded a photo with the caption:
"This is Jjongddol, it's my pet".[1]
Some members of SEVENTEEN reacted to the photo:
Wonwoo: "If you take care of it with sincerity, flowers bloom on a rock as well, so let's try it with Jjongddol"
Seungkwan: "He already made a fuss in our groupchat so I was going to ask for SOS from Carats, but it seems like he already made a fuss on here as well.."
S.Coups: "Jeonghan-ah…"
Vernon: "Why is this real.."[2]
Later on May 15, 2021, Jeonghan shared a new photo of Jjongddol in a flower basket with the caption:
"Doljjong is living happily"
In the reply, Hoshi mentioned that the name of the pet is Jjongddol, not Doljjong. Jeonghan replied:
"Actually I always get confused so I call it both names, but the name is Doljjong" [2]
Thus, Jeonghan confirmed that the stone has two names. May 17, 2021 SEVENTEEN member DK uploaded some photos after meeting Doljjong. In the photo the stone has eyes and a mouth which was not observed before. Jeonghan said:
"Doljjong was given love that it grew eyes and lips" [1]
May 23, 2021 Jeonghan showed how he set up the pet's room, the photo shows a piano, TV, guitar and a comfortable bed. Jeonghan said:
"It's playing well alone, don't worry"
"Don't worry about Doljjong, it's doing well comfortably"
"It's studying everything right now, to find its talent" [1]
Facts
1. After Jeonghan's post, all the Pet Rocks were sold out. The pet stone account said because of the sudden burst of sales they are out of stock and will be late with delivery[3].
2. A fan asked whether Doljjong was a boy or a girl and Jeonghan didn’t choose either and offered a different answer:
“It’s a stone, so there’s no such thing”[1]
3. Jeonghan said that Jjongddol is over 300 years old and that fans should treat him with respect [1].
4. Members of SEVENTEEN believe that Jjongddol was born with a "silver spoon" because he has a house of his own [1].
5. SEVENTEEN member DK is the second after Jeonghan to have a Pet Rock and named him Dodol [1].
6. In Jeonghan's profile for the "SEVENTEEN in Caratland 2021" annual fan meeting, Doljjong was mentioned as his special item [4].
7. In a photobook "Social Club" SEVENTEEN member Jun mentioned Jjongddol as the healing of Jeonghan [5].
8. June 16, 2021 on V|Live broadcast Jeonghan said he wanted to buy Doljjong a bigger box and had already ordered materials, but he couldn't fill the new large room with items, so he threw it away.
"I'm thinking about letting him go to a big world. Like in a mountain valley, Doljjong take care. You must should up and look at bigger things" [6]
9. Jeonghan posted a video on Weverse where Doljjong lies under a stream of water with the caption:
"Doljjong undergoing training" [7]
10. SEVENTEEN member Wonwoo said that Jeonghan rates using Doljjong because he is greedy for content [1].
11. September 1, 2021 an article appeared with the title ""11 years old YouTuber earning 30billion won per year... what's the secret of becoming the No.1 YouTuber? " where a photo of Jjongddol was used, but it was in no way connected with it [8].
12. June 21, 2021 Jeonghan showed Doljjong on V|Live broadcast, he said, Doljjong eats watermelons and tangerines [9].
13. A fan asked if Jjongddol eats rice? Jeonghan replied that he didn't know [10]
