Dollicious ("Delisie" in Polish) is a comic book series created by Polish artist Magdalena Kania (alias Meago) and the writer Maciej Kur. The series is published by K6 Editions, an independent comic book publisher in Montreal, Quebec. Meago started the series around 2012. She began publishing character designs to web art galleries like DeviantArt[1] and gained a fan following. Based on feedback from fans, Meago refined the designs which are a form of moe anthropomorphism where every character is an anthropomorphic realisation of an dish, food or ingredient. [2] Meago teamed up with the writer Maciej Kur (writer on Kayko and Kokosh) to turn the characters into comic stories.[3] The book series since was published in Poland, Canada and US. [4][5][2][6] [7][2][8]
The Dollicious Universe[edit]
The Dollicious world is set in Deliland, and populated by feminine anthropomorphised foods and ingredients, known as the Delipals. They all have characteristics of variou foods (for example the Pasta family has pasta for hair). The main character is Ramen, a teen who is the middle sister of The Noodle Sister family. A collection of noodle dishes who run The Pasta Cafe, a popular restaurant in Deliland's capital city, Alacart. Ramen's dream is to become a celebrity chef, like her heroes (the celebrated doyennes of the universe) Milk, Flour, and Sugar.[9][10]
Ramen's friends come from all over Deliland, from Fruitbowl Island (the home of the Fruities, who represents all fruits), Heavenly Delight (a floating city and the home of the Sweeties who are all represents candy and sweat related foods), the Agrarie Prairies (home of the Veggies), and the Herbacea Jungle (home of the Herbs known as the Herbies, who are presented as amazons like civilsation). Alacart is home to all other foods who didn't fit the above category.
The series is full of multi-layer humor, with plenty of puns, refrences and irony. A lot of characters are base around food-in-jokes refrencing the food they are based on. According to series lore Delliland was founded by demigods like beings Nectar and Ambrosia.[11]
