Dollshot at (Le) Poisson Rouge, New York City, 2011.

Dollshot is an American experimental indie-pop band, founded and co-led by husband and wife duo Rosie K (vocalist) and Noah K (composer/saxophonist). Current additional band members are Wes Matthews (piano/keyboard), Peter Bitenc (bass), Kevin McFarland of JACK Quartet (cello), and Mike Pride (drums). They began performing in 2011 in Brooklyn, New York. Critic John Schaefer of WNYC's Soundcheck described Dollshot as having "a lush, dream-pop sound, shot through with streaks of contemporary classical music… Rosie's almost child-like, innocent voice provides an eerie counterpoint to the musical darkness that surrounds her."[1]

Dollshot's eponymous debut album was released on Underwolf Records in 2011 and included arrangements of art songs by Arnold Schoenberg, Charles Ives, and Francis Poulenc, as well as original songs by Noah K and Wes Matthews. [2][3][4][5] Dollshot was named in the "Top Ten of 2011" in the Rhapsody Jazz Critics poll by critic Francis Davis.[6] The album's liner notes are by Hampton Fancher with whom the band appeared at Galapagos Art Space in April 2011.[7]

Dollshot has performed at (Le) Poisson Rouge, WNYC's The Greene Space, The Stone, Cornelia St. Cafe, Carlsbad Music Festival (California), and The Outhaus (California), among other venues. In 2016, the band contributed the song "Loop of Eden" to Esopus Magazine's Issue #23.[8]

Dollshot's second album, Lalande, is being released on Underwolf Records in 2018. The title Lalande is drawn from Clarice Lispector's novel Near to the Wild Heart. The title track single was released in July 2017 with a video directed by Matt Mahurin. The video was premiered by Schaefer on Soundcheck and on NPR's All Things Considered.[citation needed] In May 2018 New Music Box published an article by Dollshot tracing the influence of Ivan Wyschnegradsky's Manual of Quarter-Tone Harmony on their writing and composing process.[9]

Lalande is all original songs by Noah and Rosie except for an arrangement of Schubert's Nacht Und Träume. It was recorded at Studio G in Brooklyn and produced by Lawson White and Noah K. Lyrics are by Rosie K, Hampton Fancher and Geoffrey Chaucer.
