The Dolphins Cancer Challenge, also known the DCC, is a non-profit organization established by the Miami Dolphins in 2010 to fund innovative cancer research at the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.[1]
DCC is the largest fundraiser in the NFL and reached the historic milestone of $100 million raised during DCC XVI in 2026.
History
The DCC was founded in 2010 inspired by the late Dolphins legend Jim Mandich and his battle with bile duct cancer. What started as a two-day event, the initiative has blossomed into a year-round campaign centered around the annual event day every February.[2]
With the support of the DCC, the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center has established groundbreaking programs in cancer epigenetics, tumor biology and cancer control.[3]
In 2026, DCC XVI set records with $18,000,000 raised and 8,657 participants. In doing so, the fundraiser reached over $100,000,000 raised across its lifetime.[4]

Rides
Each year, the DCC offers various events for participants with the distances reflecting Hall of Famers with the Miami Dolphins:

– 99 Mile | Jason Taylor Ride[6]
Participants can also walk or run in a 5K around the Miami International Autodrome, or participate from afar through the virtual event.
