BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, S.J. is the Principal of St. Xavier's College, Kolkata and the President of St. Xavier's College (Calcutta) Alumni Association. He is blessed to be named after one of the famous Catholic Saint, St. Dominic Savio. Father was also the Rector of St. Xavier’s Community, College and School from December 2013 to January 2020. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from Burdwan University. His research interests include International Trade, International Economics and Econometrics.
ACADEMIC INSIGHTS
Father is also blessed to have got Jesuit Education all through his life – right from his Kindergarten days to his PG studies. Father did his schooling from De Britto School, a Jesuit School of high reputation at Devakottai in Southern Tamil Nadu and graduated with major in Economics from the famous St. Joseph’s College, Trichi. He did his Post Graduation and M.Phil. from the epitome of Jesuit Education in India, Loyola College, Chennai. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from Burdwan University. His research interests include International Trade, International Economics, Econometrics.
Father joined the Jesuit Order in ‘Dhyan Ashram’, Kolkata, in 1985 and was ordained as Priest in 1996. He did his higher studies in Philosophy at ‘De Nobilie’ and ‘Jnana Deepa’, Pune and Theology in ‘Vidyajyoti’, Delhi.
Since the year 2000, Father is associated with St. Xavier's College, Kolkata in teaching Economics in its Arts & Science, Commerce and BBA Departments. He has been the Vice Principal of the Commerce Morning and the BBA Departments of the College and then the Deputy Principal and subsequently as the Principal[1] of St. Xavier's College, Kolkata since 1st November, 2017.
