Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, S.J. is the Principal of St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata and the President of St. Xavier's College (Calcutta) Alumni Association.[1] He is blessed to be named after one of the famous Catholic Saint, St. Dominic Savio. Father was also the Rector of St. Xavier’s Community, College and School from December 2013 to January 2020. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from Burdwan University. His research interests include International Trade, International Economics and Econometrics.

Father is also blessed to have got Jesuit Education all through his life – right from his Kindergarten days to his PG studies. Father did his schooling from De Britto School, a Jesuit School of high reputation at Devakottai in Southern Tamil Nadu and graduated with major in Economics from the famous St. Joseph’s College, Trichi. He did his Post Graduation and M.Phil. from the epitome of Jesuit Education in India, Loyola College, Chennai. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from Burdwan University. His research interests include International Trade, International Economics, Econometrics.
Father joined the Jesuit Order in ‘Dhyan Ashram’, Kolkata, in 1985 and was ordained as Priest in 1996. He did his higher studies in Philosophy at ‘De Nobilie’ and ‘Jnana Deepa’, Pune and Theology in ‘Vidyajyoti’, Delhi.
Since the year 2000, Father is associated with St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata in teaching Economics in its Arts & Science, Commerce and BBA Departments. He has been the Vice Principal of the Commerce Morning and the BBA Departments of the College and then the Deputy Principal and subsequently as the Principal of St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata since 1st November, 2017.

- 23rd Feb 2022 - Rev. Fr. Dominic Savio received the “Badge of Honour” in recognition for the selfless contribution, dedication and devotion to spread the message of Peace, Unity & Brotherhood. The Award was presented on the occasion of “World Understanding & Peace Day” on 23rd February 2022 by Rotary Sadan Calcutta, India.[4]
- 13th Nov 2021 - On 13th November, 2021, Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal, St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata, was conferred the "Jewel of Bengal - Education Leadership Award" for his outstanding contribution in Education. This award was conferred on Father during the 4th edition of Stepping Out Night Market in association with International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM).
- 11th Nov 2021 - On 11th November 2021, on the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (Education Day), Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal, St. Xavier's College, was conferred the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Award - 2021 in the field of Education by Maulana Azad Foundation for Education and Culture, Kolkata.[5]
- 5th Sep 2021 - Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal, St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata, is the recipient of the ‘Shiksha Ratna’ Award 2021 given by the Government of West Bengal on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. The award is given in recognition of the outstanding service and contribution in the field of education. The award included two mementos, a set of books on Education and Bengal and a cheque of Rs. 25,000/-. Father dedicated this award to all the Jesuits who have served here since 1860, teachers, support staff, alumni/ae, parents and well-wishers of the College.[6]

- 16th Jan 2020 - Father was conferred the ‘Mother Teresa International Award’ by the Mother Teresa International Award Committee on 16th January, 2020. This award was handed over to Father by the Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal, Shri Jagdeep Dhankar

Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ was conferred ‘Award for Contribution of St. Xavier's, Kolkata in Indian Cinema’ during the 1st Edition of Bharat Bangladesh Film Awards 2019 organized at Basundhara City Auditorium, Dhaka on 21st October, 2019. This award was given by Film Federation of India and was handed over by the Information and Broadcasting Minister of Bangladesh.

- 2017 - Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal of the College is also the recipient of the prestigious ‘Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Award’ for his contribution in Higher Education in 2017. This award was conferred to Father by the West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education & Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education Department, Government of West Bengal.
