Dominique is an American singer, songwriter and producer based in New York City.
Musical career[edit]
Early beginnings - 2017[edit]
In 2014, Dominique uploaded a looping cover of Lorde's track "Buzzcut Season" to YouTube. Later that year, she released her debut single "It's Only You"[2] which was discovered by her current management company, The Undscvrd, featured on numerous music sites and charted on Hype Machine's Popular chart.[3] Dominique was described by The Line Of Best Fit as "a girl who knows her way around one hell of a hook"[4]
In an interview with Wonderland Magazine, she explained her sound is inspired by artists such as Charli XCX, Marina and the Diamonds, Miike Snow and "anything with a catchy melody line and synth".[5]
Following the release of her debut self-titled EP in 2016 which NME said "hinted at a pop star ready to blow up."[6] her track "Bottled Up" was aired on BBC Radio 1 with Huw Stephens[7] in early 2017, her first major radio airplay. A week later, her track "Love You Better" was aired on Apple Music's Beats 1 radio with host Ebro Darden.[8][9] In May, she released a cover of Cassie's hit song Me & U which BuzzFeed featured prominently at #2 on their "27 Brilliant Songs You Need In Your June Playlist".[10]
Sophomore EP[edit]
Shortly after the release of her cover, Dominique announced the release of "Use Me" which Clash (magazine) described as an "outrageous return"[11] and is the first taste of her upcoming sophomore EP expected in early 2019.[12]
Notable Sync Placements[edit]
An upcoming track called "Worship" was used by beauty brand Rimmel for the #IWILLNOTBEDELETED campaign with Rita Ora and Cara Delevingne[13] and was shortly followed by her track "Good Girl" being used by Victoria's Secret for the Fantasy Bra interview with Elsa Hosk.[14]
