Dominique Carbone (born 22 September 2001) is an Australian rules footballer playing for the inaugural Hawthorn Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW) season 7 competition 2022, and for the Western Bulldogs Football Club (VFLW) 2023 and 2024 Collingwood Football Club 2025 in the VFL Women's (VFLW) competition.[1][2] Originally from Darwin in the Northern Territory, she was a talented junior basketballer before switching to Australian rules football as a teenager.[3] Carbone played for the Darwin Buffaloes in the Northern Territory Football League (NTFL), winning both under‑18 and Premier League premierships and earning the 2022 Williams Medal for best‑on‑ground in the Premier League grand final.[3] After impressing with Hawthorn’s VFLW side, she was signed to the club’s inaugural AFLW list in 2022.[1] In 2024, while captaining the Western Bulldogs VFLW team to a grand final and winning the Lambert‑Pearce Medal as the league’s best and fairest,[4] she was also named in the rebel VFLW Team of the Year. Early life

Carbone was born in Darwin, Northern Territory, and grew up playing basketball at a representative level, competing for the Northern Territory in national championships.[3] She switched to Australian rules football at the age of 16, joining the Darwin Buffaloes in the NTFL.[3]

NTFL career

Carbone quickly established herself as a key midfielder for the Buffaloes, winning an under‑18 premiership and later a Premier League premiership. In the 2022 NTFL Premier League grand final, she was awarded the Williams Medal for best‑on‑ground.[3]

VFLW career
