Don Manifold is a leading expert in business governance and corporate transactions. In addition, Manifold has been quoted on business topics by major publications, including The Sydney Morning Herald, Business Review Weekly, The Australian Financial Review, The Bulletin and Smart Company.

Manifold Manifold has advised businesses on over 60 completed mergers, acquisitions, divestments, fundraising and Initial Public Offerings (IPOs), with a combined value of more than $3 billion. He has also prepared over 50 reports and valuations as an independent expert, with a combined value greater than $25 billion. The largest transactions that Manifold has consulted on include the acquisition of Adelaide Bank, the acquisition of ABB Grain, the sale of S. Kidman & Co and the sale of Powerhealth. He has also consulted on other international transactions in Australia, England, Croatia and Papua New Guinea.

Education[edit]

Don Manifold attended Flinders University from 1987 to 1991, graduating with a Bachelor of Economics with Honors. He also holds a Master of Business Administration, which he received from the Australian Graduate School of Management in 2004. This university is consistently rated one of the world’s best business schools. In addition, Manifold is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Career[edit]

Don Manifold has a total of more than thirty years’ experience, including twenty-five years in corporate finance. He started his career in Adelaide in 1990 and later worked in other cities, including London, Melbourne and Sydney. He returned to Adelaide in 2006 as a partner at KPMG, where he served until 2012.

From there, Manifold led Ernst and Young’s (EY’s) Transaction Advisory division in South Australia from 2012 to 2014. He was also the Managing Partner of EY in South Australia and Northern Territory from 2014 to 2018. Before leaving EY, Manifold said he wanted to see a greater focus on improving productivity in the public sector. He added that achieving this goal would reduce the burden of public servants amidst an environment of increasing regulation.

Current Positions[edit]

Don Manifold founded Manifold Advisory Partners in 2018, which assists management teams and boards of directors in developing their strategy and executing it. It provides practical, independent advice by chairing or attending board meetings, with specific topics that include establishing and structuring companies, business partnerships, contracts and supply agreements. His clients are primarily based in Australia, although the firm also has international partners due to Manifold’s expertise in world markets.

Don Manifold also serves on the boards of several companies in various capacities. For example, he has been the Joint Managing Director of Equity & Advisory (E&A) since 2018, which is a preeminent corporate advisory firm in South Australia. He has also served as a board member for ADX Depot, RAM Equipment and EC Carpets since 2018, and Booth Transport from 2018 to 2020. In addition, Manifold has been a Whittles Body Corporate Management Director since 2020.
