Dona Regis-Prosper
Dona Regis-Prosper is a Saint Lucian tourism executive who serves as Secretary-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO). Appointed in 2023, she is the first woman to lead the 25-member intergovernmental body.[1]
Early life and education
Regis-Prosper was born in Castries, Saint Lucia, and raised in the community of Gesneau by her mother in a single-parent household.[2] She attended St. Joseph's Convent in Saint Lucia.[2] At age 16, she moved to Trinidad and Tobago for college.[2] She later earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Durham University Business School and obtained a Certified Professional Marketer (CPM) qualification.[3]
Career
Regis-Prosper was Director of Marketing and Product Development at the Saint Lucia Air and Seaports Authority, where she played a role in developing Saint Lucia's cruise sector.[4]
She subsequently held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Tortola Pier Park in the British Virgin Islands, followed by Director of Business Development for Margaritaville Caribbean Group in Jamaica.[1] She then served as General Manager of the Antigua Cruise Port.[1]
Caribbean Tourism Organization leadership
In September 2023, Regis-Prosper was appointed Secretary-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Caribbean Tourism Organization.[1] She was selected from a pool of more than 60 applicants and praised by the selection committee for her transformational leadership style and focus on sustainability initiatives.[5]
As CTO leader, she serves as the organization's chief spokesperson and holds responsibility for implementing the organization's vision based on strategic direction set by the Council of Ministers and Commissioners of Tourism and the Board of Directors.[6] Her role includes overseeing strategic planning, business development, and policy formation initiatives to enhance Caribbean tourism competitiveness.[6]
In 2024, Regis-Prosper established the CTO Women's Leadership Awards initiative, including the Secretary-General's Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes tourism professionals with more than 20 years of service who have made notable contributions to regional tourism and provided inspirational support to other women in the industry.[7]
Recognition
In 2023, Regis-Prosper received the Caribbean Media Exchange (CMEx) Leadership Award in recognition of her contribution to tourism development in the Caribbean.[8] In March 2025, at the 25th Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA) World Tourism & Aviation Leaders' Summit held during ITB Berlin, Regis-Prosper was honored for Individual Excellence in Tourism Development.[9]
Personal life
Regis-Prosper is married and resides in Barbados.[6]
