Donald J. Quigg (born April 28, 1916) was an American patent lawyer and government official who served as Commissioner of Patents and Trademarks from 1985 to 1989.[1][2][3][4]
Early life and career
Quigg was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma and a law degree from the University of Missouri School of Law. During World War II, he served in the United States Army and was awarded the Silver Star.[2]
Patent career
Quigg joined Phillips Petroleum Company in 1946 as a staff patent attorney and later became the company's chief patent counsel. The USPTO notes that he was also named as an inventor on ten patents.[2]
Commissioner
Quigg served as Commissioner of Patents and Trademarks during the Reagan administration, succeeding Gerald J. Mossinghoff and preceding Harry F. Manbeck Jr.[1]
