Donald Trump is the English Wikipedia article (not Simple English Wikipedia) about Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States. The article is a biography[1] of him that was created on January 9, 2004. The article was first protected on December 16, 2006 due to vandalism from IP address at the time. The article was first extended-confirmed protected on November 9, 2016 due to vandalism from auto-confirmed users at the time. The article first exceeded 500,000 bytes on October 7, 2020.[1] The article has been indefinitely extended-confirmed protected.

Media coverage[edit]

The article has received media coverage from multiple sources. In the early stages of the 2016 United States presidential election, The New York Observer reported that Wikipedia's article on Donald Trump was the busiest of the 2016 U.S. presidential candidates.[2] The The New York Times noted that the article usually attracted more views than his Republican rivals.[3] In September 2016, Business Insider reported that the article subject was one of the 29 most controversial people on Wikipedia,[4] and the following month The New York Observer reported that the article entry was bulkier than either the articles on George W. Bush and Barack Obama,[5] while The Washington Post reported that the article had more than three times the number of changes than Hillary Clinton since January 2015.[6] The article was the second most changed English Wikipedia article of 2016.[7][8]

Following Trump's election, his article was the second most viewed English Wikipedia article of 2017, at 29.6 million views.[9] In 2018, the article was covered for image vandalism.[10]

Criticism[edit]

On May 14, 2020, Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger said that the idea that the Donald Trump article was neutral was a joke.[11]

Vandalism[edit]

On November 11, 2016, the article was vandalized twice by an OurMine member using Jimbo Wales account with change summary "Rank". The revisions were reverted and they were revision deleted.

Image vandalism[edit]

From November 21, 2018 to November 25, 2018, the article was vandalized with an image of penis.[10] All the vandalism revisions were reverted, and they were revision deleted as either RD2 (Grossly degrading material) or RD3 (Purely disruptive material). The image vandalism was successful that it was revealed by Siri.[10]
