Double Damage Games, Inc. is an American independent video game developer based in Washington. The studio was founded in 2014 by Travis Baldree and Erich Schaefer, co-founders of Runic Games, and is best known for the Rebel Galaxy series.[1][2]

History

Baldree and Schaefer announced their departure from Runic Games in March 2014 to form Double Damage Games.[1] That year Polygon profiled the team and its first project, Rebel Galaxy.[3]

The company’s debut title, Rebel Galaxy, released for Windows and macOS on October 20, 2015, with console versions arriving in January 2016.[4] A prequel, Rebel Galaxy Outlaw, launched on PC via the Epic Games Store on August 13, 2019, and later on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam on September 22, 2020.[5][6]

As of 2025, Baldree lists himself as co-owner and CEO of Double Damage Games.[7] Industry records list the company’s location in Washington state, including Spokane.[8] Interviews credit Schaefer as president and co-founder.[9]
