Douglas Richard McCauley (born January 6, 1965) is an American politician who is the Commissioner of California Department of Real Estate[3], serving since May 2020. He served as executive officer of the California Architects Board from 2001 to 2018. He was appointed deputy director of California Department of Housing and Community Development by Jerry Brown in 2018[4]. From 2019 to 2020 he served as acting director of the department[5].
McCauley attended Christian Brothers High School, and graduated from California State University, Sacramento[6]. From 1992 to 1999, he served as Director of Public Affairs for [7]California Building Officials. Governor Gavin Newsom appointed McCauley Commissioner of California Department of Real Estate on April 2, 2020[8].
