Dove Dance School is a Christian-based dance studio in Warr Acres, Oklahoma which offers ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, and acrobatics to ages three through adult. The school was founded in 1989, in Pensacola, Florida, but relocated twice, first to northwest Oklahoma City and then to its current location. Daphne Cooper (Tardibono) is the director and owner of the school. Dove Dance Tulsa was open for many years successfully and sold to Jessica Childs in 2009 and is still open as "The Calling" Dance Studio. Dove Dance Mustang opened in 2018 as a two-room facility and continues to grow. Dove Dance Mustang offers all major dance styles and has three companies within the student body who perform and compete.

History

Dove Dance School opened its doors in 1992 in Northwest Oklahoma City for its first seven years.[citation needed] In 1999, Dove Dance purchased land and built two state-of-the-art facilities. Dove Dance School was one of the first of its kind, combining Christian dance[clarification needed] instruction in a DMA Certified and Degreed Staffed Professional School. Dove Dance students have won over 50 regional and national solo titles along with numerous group awards.[citation needed] Dove Dance is known[by whom?] for its pieces which it performs at state and national ministry events each year. Dove Dance has been awarded "Best Studio" in Oklahoma City by the Daily Oklahoma/USA Today in 2017, 2021, and 2022. Dove Dance was also featured in DANCE Magazine in their Successful Studio Issue in which five studios were highlighted. Ballets produced for state television are something Dove Dance presents to Oklahoma every four to five years. "The Gift," an original Christian Ballet written by Arnora Hummel, has been produced three times by Dove Dance Company.

Dove Dance has been featured in national publications such as DANCE Magazine, Dance Spirit, and Dance Teacher. The company was invited to dance in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Festival which opened many mission outreach opportunities in China.[citation needed]
