Dr.Thampil Pankaj
Dr. Thampil PankajDr. Thampil Pankaj (born in Maradu village of Kochi Corporation) is an Indian economist who served the United Nations and the World Bank for many years. He is now retired and lives in Kerala. His parents were the late Shri. S. Sankara Panicker and the late K. Kunji Amma. He received his education at Mangayil High School and Maharaja's College, Ernakulam, and the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune (1959–63). He earned a PhD in Economics from the University of Pune in 1964. Before joining the UN, he worked for the Government of India in Goa and Delhi. He was selected as an Economics Affairs Officer in the United Nations Office (UNCTAD), Geneva, in 1972, where he worked for two years.
