Dr. Adetola Ariyike Salau

Dr. Adetola Ariyike Salau[1][2][3] (born June 24, 1977) is a renowned Nigerian-American educator, her contributions to the field of STEM Education/ Science education[4][5][6] in Africa[7][8]. Her work has significantly advanced our understanding of sustainable development’s role in education[9]. She is passionate about education and advocates for education reform in Africa.[9][10][5]

Early Life and Education

Adetola Salau was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey State[11][12] to her parents Ademola and Oreoluwa Salau[13][14][15]. She displayed an early aptitude for how things work- technological items and was a voracious reader. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Fordham University[16] in 1998, graduating with honors. She continued her academic journey at Syracuse University; a Masters in Engineering Management (2001) and Chemical Engineering (2004). She completed her Doctorate in Curriculum, Instruction and the Science of Learning from the State University of New York at Buffalo.[17][18][19][20]

Career

Contributions to Science

In November 2023, Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq[21] appointed her as Special Adviser on Education[22][23].[24]

Adetola’s aspiration is to continue to be a leading force in education revitalization in Nigeria and Africa, specifically in the field of STEM. She believes that the prestigious position she holds in the education space in Lagos, is a veritable platform through which she can achieve this goal. [1][25]
