Dr. Elizabeth Nadu Denloye is the co-founder of Telnet.[1] (Nigeria) Limited, a leading ICT company in Nigeria. She retired in December 2006 as the Group Managing Director of the company. She serves on a number of corporate and advisory boards. She is a renowned author[2], speaker[3] and advocate of entrepreneurship and women in the workplace[4]

Background

Dr. Elizabeth Nadu Denloye (nee Lawson) was born January 4th, 1956. She attended Our Lady of Apostles Private School, Yaba, from 1960 to 1966. As a result of her excellent performance at the National Entrance examination, she won a Federal Government Scholarship to Queens College, Yaba, between 1967 and 1971; She had the best results in Queen’s College during her WASC Examinations and proceeded to do her High School Certificate from 1971 to 1973 in the same college. In 1973 she gained admission to the University of Hull in England; under a Lagos State Government Scholarship and obtained a B.Sc. degree, 2nd Class Upper Division, in Electronic Engineering, in 1977. She obtained her Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering at the age of 25 years in 1981 at the same University where she enjoyed a part scholarship from the Institute of Electrical Engineers (IEE). She is a COREN registered Engineer, a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, and a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering. She is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School, the Cranfield School of Management and also of the Haggai Institute and RCCG’s International Bible Institute and Leadership Training School.

Career

She commenced her career in 1982 in T-Cas Nigeria Limited (a telecommunications consulting and engineering firm) as a Senior Engineer where she worked for five years before co-founding Telnet (Nigeria) Limited in 1986. She became the Managing Director of Telnet Network Services, a subsidiary company of Telnet’s in 1997, and served for 3 years before taking over as the Group Managing Director of the Telnet Group in the year 2000. Out of the Telnet Group evolved ipNX Nigeria Limited. Interswitch, Nigeria’s first leading payment company was birthed in Telnet. Dr. Elizabeth Nadu Denloye retired as Group Managing Director of Telnet in 2006 and remained on the Board as a Non-Executive Director till December 2011. Her experience and expertise led to several appointments on the Corporate Boards of both profit and not-for-profit organizations.

  • Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria Recognition Award.
  • Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria Recognition Award.

Personal Life

Dr. Elizabeth Nadu Denloye is happily married to Prof. Kayode Denloye. They are blessed with children.
