Paul Eugene White (October 10, 1957) is an American author, psychologist, speaker, and consultant. White is most noted as coauthor of the book, The 5 Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace. BIOGRAPHY White was born October 10, 1957, in Lawrence, Kansas. [1] Paul E. White graduated with a B.A. Magna Cum Laude from Wheaton College in Illinois and earned a Master of Counseling from Arizona State University. He then went to receive his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Georgia State University. White is the coauthor/author of five books including: The 5 Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace, which he cowrote with Gary Chapman, (author of the #1 New York Times bestseller, The 5 Love Languages) and which has sold over 500,000 copies [2] and been translated in 25 languages. Other books include The Vibrant Workplace, Rising Above a Toxic Workplace, Sync or Swim and Making Things Right at Work. The 5 Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace are: Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Acts of Service, Tangible Gifts and Appropriate Physical Touch as the practical ways for leaders and employees to communicate authentic appreciation, leading to increased employee engagement, lower staff turnover and more positive work environments. White and Chapman went on to develop an online assessment tool, the Motivating by Appreciation Inventory which helps leaders and employees effectively communicate appreciation to their coworkers. The MBA Inventory has been administered to more than 350,000 employees worldwide and has been translated into seven languages. [3] White has been featured in The New York Times, Forbes, Psychology Today, SHMR.org (The Society for Human Resource Management), and other publications [4] and has written articles for U.S. News & World Report, Strategic HR Review, Human Resource Management International Digest, Training Industry Magazine as well as numerous other US and international publications.
