Peter Vincent Pry is an executive director of the EMP Task Force, the director of the United States Nuclear Strategy Forum (congressional advisory board established to develop policies to counter Mass Destruction Weapons). Having the history of political analytics and expertise in nuclear warheads proved Pry to be an asset for the United States.[1]

Career[edit]

In 1984, Pry started out as a verification analyst in the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency and worked till 1985. This is where he assessed the Soviet military arms compliance with the international treaties. This was the beginning of the expansion of Pry's perspectives on the evolution of formerly known nuclear weapons into something far lethal and catastrophic.[2]

He then, in 1985, started working as intelligence officer at the Central Intelligence Agency. He was responsible for close analysis, down to the minute watch of Russian and Soviet Union’s military operations, especially the ones that included nuclear activities. He was also deciphering their upcoming military strategies and developed U.S. paradigms for strategic warning.[3]

In 1995, Pry was recruited from CIA to work for the Congress by the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) as the chief advisor to Vice Chairman of HASC. He was also the Vice Chairman of House Homeland Security Committee, and Chairman of the Terrorism Panel. This was his time to convince the Congress to establish a Congressional EMP Commission.[4]

In 1999, Pry wrote his first book War Scare: Russia and America on Nuclear Brink[5] which spotlighted on the secrets of wars and dominating effects of nuclear countries on other countries. It also highlights how many close calls the U.S. had with Russia which didn’t turn into wars just because of the presence of nuclear weapons.

In 2001, he was in the Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Attacks. He had the position of a recognized expert and worked on assessing EMP threats and other types of threats that hovers the United States. He continued to offer his services till 2008 and during that time in 2006, he was also an expert at the Commission on the New Strategic Posture of the United States.

In 2009, he was the executive director of the Congressional Strategic Posture Commission, director of the U.S. Nuclear Strategy Forum, and in the Task Force on National and Homeland Security for Congressional board and Advisory board. In 2015, he testified in Denver when Colorado first attempted to pass the EMP/GMD legislation.[6]

Written contributions[edit]

Pry has been a contributing editor and has written several articles for Family Security Matters and many other articles on United States' situation with the events happening around the world.[7] Along with that he has written books:

  • Israel's Nuclear Arsenal.[8]
  • The Power and The Light: The Congressional EMP Commission's War to Save America 2001–2020.[9]
  • Blackout Warfare: Attacking the U.S. Electric Power Grid A Revolution in Military Affairs.[10]
