Early Life[edit | edit source]
Growing up in rural North Dakota, Rod Rohrich spent most of his spare time reading books. He had always loved and excelled in academics even when has a child. It did not come as a surprise when he went to study at the North Dakota State University & University of North Dakota where he received his first two degrees.
Later on, he continued his quest for education by going to the Baylor College of Medicine for his medical degree. His general surgery and plastic surgery residencies were spent the University of Michigan Medical Center, with further pediatric plastic surgery training at the prestigious Oxford University in England. He also had a fellowship for hand and the microvascular system at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

With his impressive education comes Rod Rohrich’s stellar career. He is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has authored 800 scientific articles, 30 textbook chapters focusing on plastic surgery, and was editor for 4 textbooks and monographs.
On top of this, he is the founder of the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute and the Alliance in Reconstructive Surgery. With his ground breaking work, it is not surprise that Rod Rohrich was given the recognition for being one of the top plastic surgeons in the United State. Apart from performing his obligations as a surgeon, he is also a clinical professor that enjoys sharing his extensive knowledge to young aspiring medical students.
Rod practices at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute in Dallas, Texas. Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, he is considered an influential physician and top plastic surgeon by his peers. He has received many honors and awards for his extensive work on cosmetic and plastic surgery, here and abroad.

In spite of his busy schedule, Rod Rohrich has also made time for philanthropic work, so he can give back to the community. He is a civic figure with positions in the March of Dimes, American Cancer Society, and Save the Children. On top of this, he set up the Rod J. Rohrich, M.D. Foundation with the primary purpose of supporting medical students in his beloved home of North Dakota.

Rod Rohrich has also been featured by many magazines like Harper’s Bazaar, Good Housekeeping, Texas Monthly, and more.
