Dr.Cheravally Sasi is a malayalam poet, lyricist and writer, born on 16th September 1952, in Cheravally, Kayamkulam,Kerala.

Biography[edit]

He completed his Post Graduation in Malayalam literature from Trivandrum University College. Further to the completion of PG, attained PhD in Malayalam literature on the topic ‘The Story Poems of Vallathol’ – a critical study, from Kerala University. Dr. Cheravally Sasi worked as Malayalam Professor for nearly three decades at CMS College Kottayam and retired as Reader and HOD. While holding the post of HOD in Malayalam department, he was also a member of ‘Board of Studies’ and Research Guide. Literary Career Dr. Cheravally Sasi is acknowledged in various capacities as Malayalam poet, lyricist, biographer, essayist and children’s writer. One of the prominent collections was ‘Odanadinte Ulthudupukal – a local history of Odanadu (Central Travancore). Another notable work that gained mass attention was ‘Keezhala Janathayum, Jenakiya Nadakavum’ – a study of popular theatre, which stirred interest mainly among the theatre artists and dramatists in Kerala.

Dr.Cheravally Sasi is noted for his regular appearances and performances of various programs around multiple topics on Akashvani (AIR), Doordharshan and other popular TV channels in Kerala. Moreover, he is a popular lyricist [1] for professional dramas in Kerala.

Publications, Literary He took to writing poetry while at school and began publishing his pieces since the 1970’s. His first collection “Ithiritheen’ (children’s literature) was published in 1979, and received Kerala Government Award.
