Dr Obi Adigwe
Obi Peter Adigwe is the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the [https://niprd.gov.ng National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), Abuja, and former Executive Secretary of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Group of the Manufacturers’ Association of Nigeria (PMG-MAN) where he played a key role in the development and implementation of policy initiatives.
Biography
Obi Peter Adigwe (born 19 October 1975), hails from Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria, has in the past decades concluded two post-graduate degrees “Master’s Degree, Global Health and Public Policy, 2008” and “Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), Health Care and Policy, 2012” and have also undertaken varied but relevant roles in teaching, research, and capacity building, in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and internationally. Throughout this period, he has focused on achieving the relevant qualifications and experiences that would help improve how people in the developing world live. Addressing the weaknesses that limit capacity in these settings has been a significant motivation. Obi Peter has been using his experience to develop creative and innovative approaches to foster knowledge sharing and the generation of new evidence, by adopting multidisciplinary and integrative strategies.
Career
Adigwe has close to two decades’ knowledge and experience in Healthcare Research, Policy Making and Management, both in Nigeria and Internationally. Prior to his appointment as Director-General of the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), Dr Adigwe was the Executive Secretary of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Group of the Manufacturers’ Association of Nigeria (PMG-MAN), where he played a key role in the development and implementation of policy initiatives.
Since his assumption of office[1], NIPRD has crawled into a first class organization playing a prominent role in the management of the COVID19 pandemic. Dr Adigwe upon assumption of office brought to bear his wealth of experience in the pharmaceutical industry hence contributing to both national and global COVID-19 response with a significant proportion of the contribution focused on African Traditional Medicines[2]; an effort that provided the internationally acclaimed analysis that underpinned government's categorical position on the Madagascar COVID-19 Organics preparation[3][4] The COVID-19 Organics analysis went viral internationally with scientists and policymakers around the world referencing NIPRD's seminal work on the product.[5] This article "Dr Obi Adigwe" is from Simple English Wikipedia.
