Biography
Dr Tumi is a renown gospel musician in South Africa. His real name is Tumisang Makweya[1]. He is also a medical doctor by profession hence the title doctor to his name. He studied at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University for 6 years. Dr Tumi was born on the 10th of July 1981. He was born in seshego in Polokwane. His father was a preacher at a church called Assemblies of God. Dr Tumi's father passed away in December 2020. Dr Tumi's mother was a school teacher. His parents raised him in a godly way and he discovered he had the talent of singing whilst in Sunday School. Dr Tumi is a self taught keyboard player. Presently he is a producer, songwriter, instrumentalist, and vocalist [2]. He is an award winning gospel artist.
Medical career
Dr Tumi studied medicine at Sefako Magatho Health Science University.[3]He started practicing medicine as soon as he completed his studies. He started his own practice soon after completing his studies.
Music career
Dr Tumi left the medical field and pursued music full time when he realised that it was his true passion. He made an impression on a singing competition called Coca-Cola popstars in 2003.[4]He made it to the top 20 position in the competition. He then joined an award winning gospel group for some time and then decided to go further his career as a solo artist.
