Dr. Vinitaa Hemant Apte (born 16 July 1962 is Founder Director of TERRE Policy Centre, which is a not-for-profit organisation engaged in the evidence-based policy development and project based advocacy on the sustainable development. Before August 2008, she was working in a public sector bank. She was a consultant in OzonAction Branch of the United Nations Environment Programme, Division of the Technology, Industry and Economics (UNEP DTIE) in Paris.
During her UNEP assignment, she has developed the media strategy for the organisation. She bagged Gunwant Kamgar Award for her excellent work in Bank in 1994. In 2007, she was awarded for her environmental work in the 20th Anniversary of Montreal Protocol, Montreal Canada. She is awarded a Doctorate by University of Pune for her thesis ‘Global Environment Management through Indian Wisdom’ under the guidance of Dr P C Shejwalkar.

Dr Vinitaa H Apte was born in Sholapur and educated in Pune, the seat of learning. She completed her graduation in commerce in Pune University and started her career in Public Sector Bank.
Career[edit]
Dr Vinitaa Apte being a banker was very popular and communicative. She started her banking career in 1984. During her banking career, she was also passionate about Marathi programmes. She was a great actress, innovative writer and a promising TV anchor. She has developed many Marathi programmes and made those popular. She compered more than 5000 programmes around the globe.
After 25 years of service in public sector bank, she took voluntary retirement and joined the most prestigious United Nation Environment programme as a Consultant in Ozone Action at Paris as a communication expert. During her three years of consultancy, she implemented the media campaigns, social media outreach in 198 countries.
She came back from Paris in 2010 and set up her own organisation called TERRE Policy Centre. She is passionate to work on environment and, works for the youth and women empowerment.

She has written numerous articles for the national and international news papers and magazines. She is very active on social media. She wrote four books. Her book on positive thoughts is now entitled for the syllabus of Savitribai Phule Pune University .
