Drane W. Scrivener (born January 28, 1951) is a former American football cornerback in the World Football League for the Birmingham Americans and Chicago Fire. He played college football at the University of Tulsa.

Early years

Scrivener attended Male High School. He enrolled at Cisco Junior College for one season. He transferred to the University of Tulsa for his sophomore season, playing as a backup running back, while registering 19 carries for 103 yards (5.4-yard avg.).

As a junior, he became a full-time starter at cornerback. As a senior, he received All-MVC and All-American honors. He also practiced the long jump in track

In 1990, he was inducted into the University of Tulsa Athletics Hall of Fame.[1] In 1999, he was named to the second-team in the Tulsa Football All-Century Team.[2]

Professional career

Scrivener was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round (98th overall) of the 1973 NFL Draft.[3] He was waived before the start of the season in September.[4]

In 1974, he signed with the Birmingham Americans of the World Football League. He was released on September 18.[5]

In 1975, he was signed by the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent, but was released after failing his physical examination on July 11.[6]
