The Dread Pirate Rollers (DPR) are an Australian women’s flat track roller derby league, based at the south-side of Perth.[1] The league currently has three teams: The Inconceivables (travel team), The Shrieking Eels and The Brute Squad (home teams).
The origins of DPR began in 2011, where they had their first training session in a car park during May. Since then, a venue in Kwinana, The Zone Youth Space, housed an indoor sporting court, which became their new training venue.[2] Over a couple of years, members would represent and volunteer at WA Roller Derby. Until finally in 2013, they established DPR as an independent, not for profit association.[1]
In 2013, The Inconceivables, made their debut at Boom State Clash in September. With their home teams, The Shrieking Eels and the Brute Squad[3] establishing a rivalry during the league's first home season, with The Shrieking Eels claiming first place.
