DreamWorks Home Entertainment, Inc. was the home video distribution arm of DreamWorks Pictures that was formed in 1998. The company's releases were originally distributed by Universal Studios Home Entertainment, a deal that would last until 2005. After DreamWorks became a label of Paramount Pictures, in February 2006, the distribution rights went to Paramount Home Entertainment until 2011. The studio became independent from Paramount in 2008 and in 2009, they made a distribution deal with Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures through their Touchstone Pictures label (although Paramount and Universal Studios continued to release their films through 2011). Starting in 2011, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment through Touchstone Home Entertainment began releasing their films to home media, but only films that Disney/Touchstone released. Paramount owns the rights to DreamWorks' pre-2008 live-action films (along with any 2008 to 2011 films they released). DreamWorks Animation animation films were released by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment from 2013-2017. DreamWorks Animation was later acquired by Comcast in 2016. Universal Pictures would later acquire a minority stake in Amblin Partners and is now distributing DreamWorks' films past 2016
