DRiefcase is a Mumbai, India based healthcare technology company that provides technology solutions for patients and medical practitioners. Its suite of products include a Personal Health Record (or PHR) application called as DRiefcase, which is a digital health records management platform, and a hospital information system by the name of DRiefcase Connect.[1] DRiefcase is the pioneer in the digital health locker space in India and is India's first Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (or ABDM) integrated digital health locker and PHR application.[2]

History[edit]

DRiefcase was founded in 2016 by Harsh Parikh and Sohit Kapoor, both alumni of IIM-Bangalore and former investment bankers at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and is headquartered in Mumbai.

The company started in 2016 with the launch of a digital health locker application for managing digital health records of patients before expanding into other product categories. The company launched its hospital information system for medical practitioners by the name of DRiefcase Connect in 2019.[3] In August 2021, DRiefcase was recognized as India’s first health locker to be integrated into the ABDM.[4] In January, 2022 DRiefcase upgraded itself into a PHR application that provides the complete patient-side features of the ABDM.

Services[edit]

On the patient’s side the company has a PHR app by the name of DRiefcase that allows the users and their family members to safely manage, share, and access their medical records anytime using its inbuilt health locker. It also offers all patient-side features of the ABDM such as creation of government issued health IDs, giving consents for sharing of medical records, and linking existing digital medical records into the ABDM.[5]

DRiefcase is the only digital platform in India that provides scanning services to help digitize health records of the users by sending its team to the homes of the users to scan all kinds of medical records, including radiology reports such X-rays and MRI reports.[6]

On the healthcare providers’ side DRiefcase has built DRiefcase Connect, which is a hospital information system, to improve the operations and quality of care of medical practices run by individual doctors, small hospitals, and polyclinics.
