DryRun Security is an American AI-native application security company that develops tools to detect and prioritize code-level risks during software development.[1] The company’s platform uses an approach it calls Contextual Security Analysis (CSA) and also offers Natural Language Code Policies (NLCP) for defining and enforcing security rules.[2]
History
DryRun Security emerged from stealth in 2023. In January 2025 the company announced an US$8.7 million seed round led by LiveOak Venture Partners and Work-Bench, with participation from Cannage Capital.[3][4]
Technology
DryRun’s technology is described as AI-native and based on Contextual Security Analysis, combining static analysis, code-change data, and application context to surface security risks and reduce developer noise.[5] The company also developed Natural Language Code Policies (NLCP), which allow teams to express security rules in plain language and enforce them in developer workflows such as GitHub.[6]
Recognition
DryRun Security was selected as a finalist in the Black Hat USA 2024 Startup Spotlight competition.[7] DryRun Security was also listed in the Austin Inno 2025 Startups to Watch list.’’’[8]
