Mauro Ezequiel Lombardo (born June 24, 1996), known professionally as Duki, is an Argentine rapper.
Life and career[edit]
Mauro Lombardo was born in the city of Buenos Aires on June 24, 1996 to Sandra and Guillermo Lombardo. He has an older brother called Nahuel Lombardo and a younger sister called Candela Lombardo. At the early age of 6 he started liking american hip hop.
In 2012 he discovered freestyle battles and became interested, participating for the first time in 2013 in the Madero Free event, in which he won a 2 vs. 2 battle. The first name he used was Wanakin which he later changed to Duki.
In 2015 he started participating in El quinto escalón, one of the biggest freestyle events of Argentina. During this era, he joined the CMK crew, which included other freestylers like Wolf, MKS and Midel. In November 2016 he won one of the main competitions of the event and the same day he released his first single on Youtube, "No vendo trap". The video was eventually removed from the platform because of a copyright dispute with the producer who made the beat. In 2017 he won again, teaming up with MKS against Paulo Londra and Beelze.
Later in 2017 he released a series of singles that became massive hits and kickstarted the explosion of the local trap scene, including "Hello Cotto", "She Dont' Give a Fo" (featuring Khea) and specially "Loca" (collaboration with Khea and Cazzu), which became the first and biggest hit of the Argentinean trap and would eventually be remixed to include a new verse by Bad Bunny.
During 2018 he left Mueva Records, the label created by Omar Varela, who was the producer of his first singles, and started the #ModoDiablo crew with Neo Pistea and Ysy-A (founder of El quinto escalón). Together they released various successful singles as "Quavo", "Uh" and "Trap N' Export". In August 2018 he's featured in the cover of the Argentine edition of Rolling Stone magazine.
