Dupont Bridge
The DuPont Bridge is a bridge over the Saint Andrews Bay. The original DuPont Bridge began construction in 1927. Completed in 1929, the structure was part of the U.S. 98 Coastal Highway Project. The bridge was replaced in 1965, providing a newer passageway for travelers crossing East Bay. The old bridge became a popular site for fishing. Deterioration and storms led to the old structure's closure and dismantlement beginning in 2005. Parts of the old bridge were used to create a reef that has become a popular scuba diving site.
