Durian is an Indian furniture store chain that manufactures plywood, laminates, veneers, sofas, chairs, beds, tables and residential interiors. It is headquartered in Mumbai, India.[1]
History
During the British Raj, L.N. Dokania, while employed by the Birla family, pioneered the plywood industry in India and started a furniture business. In 1981, Sajjan Dokania expanded the business by establishing Durian, and in 1985, launched its first plywood division. In 1988, a timber-peeling plant was installed at Wada in Maharashtra.[2]
As of 2022, Durian was delivering to over seven thousand Postal Index Numbers in India.[1]
