Durie Tangri was founded in 2009 by lawyers who departed from the San Francisco firm Keker, Van Nest & Peters LLP. Its founding partners were Daralyn Durie, Ryan Kent, Mark Lemley, Michael Page, Clement Roberts, and Ragesh Tangri.[1][2] It now has 23 lawyers.[3] Its clients include Fitbit, Google, Genentech, LinkedIn, Newegg, Snapchat, Twitter, Ticketmaster, and Zynga.[4]

Noteworthy Cases[edit]

  • Authors Guild, Inc. v. Google, Inc. Durie Tangri represented Google in a copyright dispute about Google Books. The court held that Google Books is a noninfringing fair use.[10]
  • Robert Stevens et al. v. CoreLogic Inc. Durie Tangri won summary judgment for CoreLogic in a copyright class action. The plaintiffs claimed that CoreLogic altered photos and removed copyright management information in violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. The court held that the plaintiffs failed to prove that CoreLogic intentionally removed or altered information embedded in the images.[11]
  • Segan LLC v. Zynga Inc. Durie Tangri won more than $1.1 million in attorneys’ fees for Zynga in a patent infringement suit.[12]
