Overview[edit]
Dustland Runner is an exercising gaming app, where users have to survive in a post-apocalyptic world, The Dustland, as the character "Dustcap". It uses gamification, augmented reality and move-to-earn experiences to encourage exercise.[1] The app has features of storytelling, playing music from built-in player or from third-party app, and has ability to track distance, time and pace of the users. The app uses reward system for exercises,[2] giving users virtual rewards such as NFTs[3][4] and the cryptocurrency DOSE.[5]
History[edit]
Dustland Runner's Season 1 was first released on March 24 on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store on May 3, 2022. It was developed based on the Zombies, Run! game engine.[6]
Initially, the Kettlemine Harbour Postcard NFT[7] was released as free airdrop.
On May 28, 2022, the Operation Ape Access Pass[8] was released for access to side quests within the game.[9]
