Dwight Russel Micnhimer (born June 26, 1948) is an American poet, writer and rock art researcher presently living in Prineville, Oregon, United States. He was awarded Poet Laureate by Poetry Society of India in 2014 for his poetry collection, Notes to be Left with the Gatekeeper.

Background[edit]

D Russel Micnhimer was born in on June 26, 1948 to Carolyn Micnhimer and Dwight Micnhimer. He started his career in the US Marine Corps. After honorable discharge, he spent much of his life working at a variety of jobs and traveling through much of the world pursuing his interests in the archaeology of ancient civilizations and rock art.[1] He has collected photographs of petroglyphs in an effort to preserve and interpret them.[2] He holds a degree in English from the University of Oregon.

Work[edit]

Micnhimer has written poems, plays, novels, and nonfiction.[3] His poetry and fiction has appeared in various online and print journals including Camel Saloon, The Ghazal Page and Mad Swirl. Micnhimer has authored several books on rock art, fiction and poetry. He was bestowed with Poet Laureate for his poetry collection Notes to be Left With Gatekeeper.[citation needed]

Micnhimer is a contributing author to several international anthologies including Resonance and Colors of Refuge by Poets Artists Unplugged, a Delhi Based group, Significant Anthology and Umbilical Chords : An Anthology on Parents Remembered.

Personal life[edit]

Micnhimer leads a retired life at Prineville where he divides his time between writing poetry and studying Rock art.[4]
