Dylan Ben-Israel (born 21 January 1976) is a South African born screenwriter, producer, editor and director. He has written films such as Hansie, Asinamali and Story of a Sunflower. He also wrote Marlboro Drive for Ronnie Apteker as well as Forging God’s Signature based on the book by Alon Davidov.

Career[edit]

Dylan began working in television and film industry in 1993 at 17 years old when he was an assistant producer on the documentary “The Best of Mbongeni Ngema”. He worked on numerous television series, music videos, documentaries and films as a producer, writer, visual effects or director over the next few years, even trying acting in the film Human Time Bomb.

Dylan wrote the screenplay for Asinamali, a film based on the stage play by Mbongeni Ngema. He has also written screenplays for Hansie, Story of a Sunflower, Marlboro Drive, The Zulu and Forging God’s Signature. He also has written his own scripts and television shows that have been optioned and are in development in the US.

Dylan has also held writing workshops for film schools, the South African Writer’s Guild as well as been on the panel of judges for various screenwriting competitions.
