Dynamo FC St. Cloud is an American soccer team based out of St. Cloud, Minnesota. Founded in 2017, the team currently plays in Division 2 of the Minnesota Amateur Soccer League (MASL), a United States Adult Soccer Association sanctioned league.
History
Founded in 2017, co-manager Ed Johnson stated the club was founded so that college and high school players in Central Minnesota had a place to play in the summer.[1] His counterpart Eduardo Silva also stated their original goal of becoming a semi-professional club.[2][3]
The club's inaugural season in Division 4 of the MASL ended with a regular season record of 14 wins, 2 losses, and 2 ties, which won them the title and promotion to Division 3.[4] They also took home the Wilson Cup, a tournament the league offers for clubs in Minnesota that do not play in the top tier of their league,[5] with a 3-2 victory in the final over Wolverines FC.[6]
In St. Cloud's second season, they were promoted for the second consecutive season with a regular season record of 14 wins, 4 losses, and 0 ties, but only managed a second place finish behind Lions FC.[7] The 2018 season also saw a reserve side, Dynamo FC '18 join MASL in Division 4.[1][8]
