E.B.O.N.Y. is an online puzzle and riddle game created in 2008 by Hungarian web designer András Kéri (Better known by his online username Aneninen). It is the self proclaimed "Weirdest Riddle Game on the Internet." and contains 217 puzzles.

Launched in 2008, it is one of the earliest online puzzle games. It follows a structure similar to Notpron where the player must use information on and hidden inside the webpage to find the next level's URL. Unlike other puzzle games, some levels may contain multiple solutions that leads the player to different stages. The game uses the 'folder' system to create sections of the game. Folders have their own unique URL paths and design motifs. To find the next page's URL, the player will need to find either a phrase or login. Logins require a username and password to be input to proceed. These phrases or logins can be hidden in a variety of ways from inside images to inside the source code. The game often demands particular skills or knowledge of the player to help solve the puzzle.

History[edit]

E.B.O.N.Y. was made public in 2008 and had a length of 28 levels in any one direction.[1] The game quickly gained a small following on the forum website Gamershood[2] before it was shown off in a Vsauce video[3] that spread the existence of the game into the mainstream. The game was given multiple expansions until 2016 that raised the total number of levels to 217. After 2016, András Kéri went on a haitus that lasted until May, 2021 where he announced his return to the game on the official Facebook page for the game.
