The name Ecovis stands for a combination of economy and vision. ECOVIS International has offices in more than 70 countries with over 6,500 people working there.[2] It was founded in 2008. History
The foundation of Ecovis in Germany
The origin of Ecovis dates back to 1909, when the Royal Academy's accounting department was founded in what was then the Kingdom of Bavaria. It is the original company of the Ecovis brand. The accounting department later became the BayLa Group, part of Ecovis in Germany. In 1990, the BayLa Group merged with the WWS Group from Chemnitz. This was due to structural similarities. In Flensburg, Wolfgang Grieger founded the Grieger Mallison Group, the second part of Ecovis in Germany.
2003 is the year of birth of Ecovis. The BayLa Group and the Grieger Mallison Group formed a strategic alliance. The two groups fit together very well: They are equally structured, with many offices throughout Germany, and have a similar size. They share the same goals and are traditional companies. They founded the common brand Ecovis.
Ecovis stands for economy and vision. Since its foundation, Ecovis has attached great importance to interdisciplinary development and expansion. Since 2016, there has been cooperation with the RTS Group in Baden-Württemberg, strengthening Ecovis' presence in the southwest of Germany.
Ecovis in Germany currently has more than 100 locations and employs 1,500 people. In 2017, sales amounted to €154.2 million.
The growth of ECOVIS International
ECOVIS International was founded in 2008. Since then, it has continuously expanded its international presence. In 2016, the US CPA firm Marcum LLP became an associated partner.

ECOVIS International is an association of several companies worldwide. Each company is an independent entity with its own clients. It is a Swiss association with headquarters in Zurich.[4] [1] ECOVIS International is represented by a Management Board and a Supervisory Board.[5] The president is Kay Friedrich Thomsen, since the foundation in 2008.[3]

ECOVIS International provides tax consultation, accounting, auditing, legal advice, and further international services.[6]
- Tax consultation includes e.g. fiscal arrangements and tax planning, succession planning, tax due diligence, and advice on initial public offering.[7]
- Accounting includes e.g. payroll, financial accounting, all types of tax returns, monthly and annual VAT reports, and preparation of consolidated financial statements.[8]
- Auditing includes e.g. voluntary and statutory audits according to ISA, review of financial statements, and financial due diligence.[9]
- Legal advice includes e.g. corporate, commercial, and labour law, mergers and acquisitions, compliance, litigation, arbitration, and mediation.[10]
- Further international services include global compliance services, transfer pricing, and global company setup.[11]
Responsibility
The non-profit foundation Ecovis & friends was founded in Munich, Germany in 2013. The aim of the foundation is to support young people, especially with regard to education, culture, and health.[12] Chairman of the foundation board is Ecovis tax advisor Michael Sabisch.[13]
