Anthony Edward Prieto (born January 29, 1993) is an American rapper, songwriter, graphic artist and record producer. He is usually known for his Massachusetts based festival. Aside from his solo career, he is also known for being a former member and founder of the hip hop collective DUBSEE which included members like Pasto Chris, Mello$av and Kony762.[2]

Raised in Wilbraham, Massachusetts, SATURN would start his music career there as a teenager under the artist name eTTo. Most of SATURN’s work thereafter centered around essentially being an A&R for musicians and rappers. He would help link up members of Ave Adore and many rappers like T’Swan and TyGold. Around 2015, he would hit some milestones and release his first project, a mixtape that he has since taken down, called Cosmosutra under his former artist name. He also held his first iteration of Pass The SOUL[3] which essentially was a block party.[4] Its success brought SATURN to throw the festival two more times which was another testament to his mission to make talented artists meet. He would throw the last festival in 2018 in Amherst, Massachusetts downtown center.[5]

Early life[edit]

Anthony Edward Prieto was born at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, on January 29, 1993 to Irma Prieto. His mother is of Puerto Rican nationality and a Radiology Technician and his father, David Mason, is Jamaican. SATURN was named after Anthony Edwards from the American TV Series ER. SATURN would move from Springfield, where he met his childhood bestfriends and would learn his desire to make a band, to Wilbraham in 2005. He would attend middle school and high school there and begin his music career. He also did theater at The Drama Studio in Springfield in front of his old middle school. SATURN was known to be a good student when he wanted to be but was definitely focused on the arts and extra curricular things.

Career[edit]

2010 to 2015: Career beginnings[edit]

EDDIE SATURN has said in interviews that his start to making hip hop music was almost a fluke. He said: "someone challenged me to [like] a rap battle... And he rapped, what I didn't know was, a Wayne verse. And I was like, 'holy crap, this guy can rap'...I come back with something that ACTUALLY was pretty good- at the time,"[6] He then would go on explaining how the process of writing that verse inspired him to write to beats and begin his career in rapping and, furthermore, songwriting. Also in 2010, SATURN would meet long time friend and frequent collaborator, TyGold, in the hallways of their highschool.

For five years, EDDIE SATURN would put out soft releases that he no longer has released, and focus on building a music collective as well as talent searching. SATURN would be credited with linking the members of the rock band Ave Adore when he asked them to be a backing band for his performances, progressing the careers of the members of unkxwngang like Ronin DeLa, and he would meet some of his favorite collaborators like Gabe Gill, Sugarfli, and Kezia.

In 2015, SATURN would soft release his first full project, a mixtape called Cosmosutra. He would use his festival, Pass The SOUL as a listening party for the project. The project would receive critical acclaim in the Western, MA area where he was from and influence a lot of the talent he met along the way to making it, to release high quality releases. His music caught the attention of Kenyan rapper Machakos Kyalo. EDDIE SATURN's music video to Battlemeditation, off of Cosmosutra, would be shot in Kenya one year later.

2016–present: "NEVER THOUGHT WE'D MAKE IT THIS FAR" delayed, new music[edit]

After meeting Kyalo at a party in Amherst, SATURN would spend the year performing at shows in Boston with Machakos Kyalo. The rapper moved to Boston, following his summer release, with his long time girlfriend who is an Instagram content creator. In Boston, SATURN would become an intern and eventually a certified sound engineer at the studio The Record Company. There he would learn the sound engineering and production skills that would get Kyalo to ask him to travel to Kenya, to tour, mix music and make music with the Kenyan musician.

In December 2016, right before New Year's Day, SATURN would fly to Kenya to stay with Kyalo. In Kenya, SATURN would not only perform, learn to mix music efficiently, and write new music but he would also garner the overall influence and even some songs for his currently unreleased album that he has titled NEVER THOUGHT WE'D MAKE IT THIS FAR.... While living in Boston, SATURN would record and produce dozens of songs expecting to release them on the album circa 2017. Instead of the album, SATURN dropped the fifth installment to his "Return Saga" of songs on a two part track titled, "MHMM/Return V" in 2017. The track featured Boston Music Award nominated rapper ANSON RAP$.

Following his first official release, SATURN has dropped several soft releases like his 2018 mixtape No Alien with Japanese producer No Alien or his short lived mixtape lovedemos.saturn which was the first time the song VACATION... would be heard. He also released a mixtape with Kony762 titled LE4DERS. On October 18, 2019, Western Massachusetts artist Dwisenhower released an album called Leap of Faith that featured a song called "Bank". The song itself featured Buffalo, New York native Bill $Aber and SATURN. SATURN has teased snippets of certain songs on social media tagging them with the album title. A song called BOUNTY... was teased on his Instagram in 2019 as well as a hard release of his song "VACATION..." in February, 2020. The song is rumored to be off of his album NEVER THOUGHT WE'D MAKE IT THIS FAR..., especially because of the similar stylization of titles. The song features Boston native, Los Angeles based, musician MyCompiledThoughts and received extremely positive reviews especially compared to SATURN's previous releases. He has said that his album is essentially done but he is waiting for some features. [7] Also in 2019, after changing his artist name, EDDIE SATURN started a YouTube channel with a self titled talk show about everything and nothing and announced his name change in the first video. [8] The talk show was edited by previous collaborator, Dwisenhower. In June, 2020 EDDIE SATURN was featured on a song titled "untitled. (floyd)" with frequent collaborator Donny Darkpop. The song covered the duo's views on police brutality and overall social and civil justice for all. Monsoon Roastery of Springfield, Massachusetts has a podcast that has an original theme song written by EDDIE SATURN produced by himself and Donny Darkpop. [9] On July 3, 2020, SATURN released a song called "Return VI" on his Soundcloud. [10] It is the sixth installment of his "Return" series and featured a verse from Syqe. On August 7th, 2020, EDDIE SATURN announced a four track EP titled [saline] EP. The project will be released August 21,2020.

On April 23, 2021, EDDIE SATURN released a single called "I KNOW, I KNOW..." after previously teasing it on his Instagram. Paired with the teaser was a cryptic photo that seemed to be a tracklist for a project named "Dork".
