ESCZ

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

ESCZ, originally Eurovision Song CZ, is an annual song competition organised by Czech public broadcaster Czech Television (ČT). It determines the Czech representative at the Eurovision Song Contest and has been held almost every year since 2018.

Participation

As of 2023, a total of 40 songs have been performed at ESCZ, with between 5 and 8 artists performing every year. Originally, only artists from Czechia were allowed to enter the competition, although this rule was changed for the 2024 edition to allow artists from Slovakia who permanently live and work in Czechia to participate.

Voting

An array of different voting systems have been used to decide the winner of the competition. Past voting systems have included juries and online voting from Czechia and from across the world.

Winners

Five of Czechia's twelve participations in Eurovision have come from ESCZ. In 2020, the ESCZ winner Benny Cristo was set to participate with the song "Kemama" before the contest was eventually cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[1] He later participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with the song "Omaga".
