Earth’s Future is a monthly peer-reviewed transdisciplinary scientific journal of geoscience published by the American Geophysical Union that was established in 2010. The editor-in-chief is Amir AghaKouchak.

Aims and scope

Earth’s Future is a transdisciplinary journal that focuses on the science of the Anthropocene. The journal publishes articles on the state of the planet and its biodiversity and inhabitants, climate change and its impacts, sustainable future pathways, societal resilience and vulnerability, and predictions and projections about the future climate and climate impacts. The journal is particularly interested in assessing the challenges and opportunities of the Anthropocene – an era where human activities dominate the Earth’s ecosystems, environment, climate, and resources. Earth’s Future publishes peer-reviewed research articles, literature reviews and commentaries in areas that include geochemistry, water, atmospheric science, solid Earth, space science, air quality, food, agriculture, oceanography, cryosphere, energy, hydrology, natural and man-made hazards, climate, weather, land surface processes, demographics, ecosystems, urbanization, emerging environmental problems, human well-being, among others.
