Earthside is a progressive metal band from New Haven, Connecticut, formed in 2012 by keyboardist Frank Sacramone, guitarist Jamie van Dyck, drummer Ben Shanbrom, and bassist Ryan Griffin.
In 2015, they released their debut album A Dream In Static, which explores various styles across the rock and metal spectrum. Half of the album is instrumental, while the other half features guest performances from artists such as Lajon Witherspoon (Sevendust), Daniel Tompkins (Tesseract), and Björn Strid (Soilwork).
The band's music combines contemporary progressive metal and symphonic metal with cinematic elements. Tracks from their debut album range from full orchestral compositions to featuring unique instruments like the Celtic hammered dulcimer.
Earthside promoted A Dream In Static with two music videos: "A Dream In Static" and "Mob Mentality". Both videos were featured in Loudwire's Battle Royale, with "Mob Mentality" holding the #1 spot for five consecutive weeks in early 2016 and earning a place in the Loudwire Battle Royale Hall of Fame. The band also received the Outstanding Video Award for "Mob Mentality" at the 2016 North American Independent Rock Music Awards.
Live appearances
Earthside has toured extensively, including with major acts like Soulfly, Soilwork, and Shattered Sun on the "We Sold Our Souls to Metal" tour in 2015, and with Leprous and Voyager on "The Congregation" tour in 2016. They also supported Leprous in the US and Canada in late 2016.
