Easemon
Easemon, also known as EaseMon, is a surveillance software program which works on Apple Mac computers and Windows PC. Developed by Awosoft Technology Co., Ltd, Easemon is mainly used as a parental controls and employee monitoring program to filter inappropriate sites with URL, check the activities on the computer, including websites visited, application usage, social chats, and keystrokes.
History
On November 26, 2015, Easemon for Mac OS X was originally released by Awosoft as parental control and employee monitoring software for the desktop. On August 1, 2017, the version of Easemon monitor for Windows PC was released.[1]
Features
In some companies in the technology field, Easemon is used to increase employees' working productivity.[2] Easemon is tagged as an all-in-one monitoring program for Mac and Windows PC.[3] It is compatible with Mac 10.7+ and Windows 7 & 10. This monitor secretly supports the logging of keystrokes entered (e.g., typed accounts, passwords, and messages), websites visited (including URL and title, top searches), composed emails, chats in Facebook, Skype, and other social apps, websites visited in Chrome, Safari, Firefox (including web history in incognito mode), application usage reports (time length of application used, top used apps, screenshots of application being used). Easemon also captures screenshots by keywords and app name, periodically sends email notifications with an alert category. A user can also remotely update or uninstall Easemon, restart, and turn off the target device.
Controversy
Employee monitoring can be helpful in increasing employee productivity and reducing the rate of insider threats but is subject to regulatory laws. The company recommends employers inform their employees in advance that the computers are under monitoring.[4] Employee monitoring cannot legally be used to track employees' activities outside the workplace. Effects on employee morale have been an issue.[5]
