East 3rd Street was a station on the New York, Westchester and Boston Railway. It was opened in 1912 and closed in 1937, along with the railroad.

History

This station opened on May 29, 1912, as a local station of the New York, Westchester and Boston Railway (NYW&B). It closed on December 12, 1937, when the NYW&B went bankrupt. The line north of Dyre Avenue was scrapped and salvaged in 1942 for the World War II scrap drive.

The station consisted of two island platforms and four tracks. The right of way has been filled in.

The East Third Street Station building in Mount Vernon, east of South Fulton Avenue, temporarily and partially remains.[1] Until about 2010, it was used by a granite supplier.[2] It was, as of October 7, 2016, in the process of demolition to make way for a potential development.
