Music On Hold, also known as messages on hold, marketing on hold and MOH, is the audio content organizations provide on phone systems for callers waiting in the hold queue. Streaming MOH refers to a live music on hold stream (URL-based delivery) which can also include custom content.
History Of Streaming Music On Hold[edit]
The use of streaming music on hold was launched by Easy On Hold in November, 2013, primarily to serve Asterisk, OnSIP and similar IP-based telephone systems. Since that time, many other types of phone systems have adopted the streaming music on hold concept.
Streaming Equipment[edit]
Many IP phone systems (voice over internet protocol) allow the use of an audio stream (URL-based streaming source), circumventing the need for an external audio device or appliance, as with traditional phone systems heretofore. In the event an external audio device (equipment) is required, a configurable internet radio device can decode the stream and present analog audio to the music on hold source of a phone system. Easy On Hold was instrumental in the development of the ProStream streaming audio appliance manufactured by ProDigital Manufacturing in Michigan, USA.

Custom targeted marketing messages (spoken content) allow companies and organizations to communicate important branding concepts to callers while they wait on hold. Easy On Hold provides scripts, music and voice recording.
Voice Recordings[edit]
Easy On Hold operates two audio recording studios, providing custom-recorded voice recordings for use on automated-attendant (IVR) systems, voice over (narration), radio and television.
Overhead and Background Music[edit]
Easy On Hold is the provider of a background music service, also known as overhead music, office music, business music. The music service is streamed at 192kbit/s stereo, and can incorporate voiced announcements for in-store advertising.
Music Tracks[edit]
Music for telephone on hold use: music tracks must be licensed for use on hold.[1] Music performance rights for telephone use are included in music tracks provided through Easy On Hold. CEO Julie Cook is quoted as saying Easy On Hold has a "world class library of music".[2]
