Eberhard Sandschneider (born 1955) is a German political scientist, geopolitician, and specialist of China and of international relations (IR) in Asia-Pacific.[1][2]

Academic career[edit]

In 1986, Sandschneider completed his PhD with a thesis on military and politics of China.

Between 1995 and 1998, Sandschneider was a Professor of IR at the University of Mainz. Since 1998, he has been a Professor of Chinese politics and IR at the Free University of Berlin, where he served as the Dean of the Faculty for Political and Social Sciences and the Director of the Center for Chinese and East Asian Politics.

From 2003 to 2016, he was Otto-Wolff-Director of the Research Institute of the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP).[3][4][5]
