Eboni-Rose Thompson is an American politician, educator, non-profit executive, and District of Columbia State Board of Education's Ward 7 member. She also serves as the Board's Vice President.[1]

Early life and education[edit]

Rose-Thompson was born in Washington, DC as a fourth-generation Washingtonian. She grew up in Ward 7 and attended Plummer Elementary School. She attended the University of Pennsylvania and Georgetown University where she received a Bachelor's degree and a certificate in education of finance.[1][2]

Career[edit]

Thompson came back to DC and worked at her elementary school alma mater, Plummer Elementary. She has also worked at non-profits including Save the Children and America's Promise Alliance. She currently works as a portfolio manager at Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropy specializing in education grantmaking.[3]

Local politics[edit]

Thompson has served as an ANC Commissioner in the district 7F representing her neighborhood. She worked to modernize community centers, support openings of sporting academies in Ward 7, and secure community benefits to enhance neighborhoods in the Ward.[1]

Since 2012, Thompson has also served as the Chair of the Ward 7 Education Council. She has worked with families, educators, students, neighbors, and all to balance funds for education in the Ward.

In 2020, Thompson was elected as the Ward 7 Board of Education representative defeating incumbent Karen Williams.[4]

Personal life[edit]

Rose-Thompson lives in the Southeast neighborhood of Fort Dupont.
