Ebrahim Bahmani (Persian: ابراهیم بهمنی; born 1991) is an Iranian politician and journalist. He currently serves as the **Chairman of the Shirinoo City Council**, the first council formed after the elevation of Bandar Shirinoo from a village to a city. He has also held positions including **Vice Chairman of the Islamic Council of Kangan County** and **Chairman of the Islamic Council of Siraf District**.[1]
Career
Bahmani began his political career during the **sixth term of Iran’s Islamic councils**, serving in several local governance roles across southern Bushehr Province. Following the official elevation of Bandar Shirinoo to city status in 2023, he was elected as the **first Chairman of the Shirinoo City Council**.[2]
In addition to chairing the city council, Bahmani has served as:
- **Chairman of the Islamic Council of Siraf District** (Sixth Term)
- **Vice Chairman of the Islamic Council of Kangan County** (Sixth Term)
- **Chairman of the Cultural and Social Commission** of the Islamic councils of Siraf District and Shirinoo
- **Spokesperson** for the Islamic councils of Siraf District and Shirinoo
These roles placed him at the center of the administrative transition from rural governance to urban management in Shirinoo.
Urban Governance and Public Activities
Municipal administration
As chairman of the newly established city council, Bahmani played a role in announcing and overseeing the selection of **Shirinoo’s first acting mayor**, followed by the appointment of the city’s first official mayor by the Governor of Bushehr Province.[3][4]
He publicly emphasized the legal authority of the city council in the mayoral selection process and called for timely issuance of the mayor’s official decree by the Ministry of Interior.[5]
Infrastructure and local development
Bahmani has addressed infrastructure challenges in Shirinoo, including shortages in educational facilities, delays in construction projects, and environmental impacts related to nearby industrial zones.[6]
He has also raised concerns regarding property ownership disputes in the region, urging judicial authorities to intervene and resolve longstanding legal issues.[1]
Fisheries, energy, and transportation
Bahmani has advocated for the development of **Shirinoo’s fishing port**, holding meetings with officials from the Iran Fisheries Organization and the Ministry of Interior.[7]
In discussions with the Deputy Minister of Oil and the head of the National Petrochemical Company, he requested the extension of **natural gas infrastructure** to surrounding rural areas, a proposal that received preliminary approval.[8]
Bahmani has also followed the **Shirinoo–Galehdar road widening and improvement project**, a strategic transportation route linking southern Bushehr Province to Fars Province, which has received funding from South Pars petrochemical development sources.[9]
Media activities
Alongside his political work, Bahmani is active in the media sector. He is a **member of the Board of Directors of the Press and Media House of Bushehr Province** and has been involved in local media management initiatives in southern Bushehr.[10]
Publications
Bahmani is the author of the book Journalism in the Digital Age (Persian: خبرنگاری در عصر دیجیتال), published in 2025. The book examines challenges and opportunities in contemporary journalism, with a focus on digital media. Its publication and subsequent review sessions were covered by Iranian news agencies.[11][12]
Awards and recognition
Bahmani was recognized as one of the **top youths of Bushehr Province** at Iran’s national *Young of the Year* event, in recognition of his civic, media, and administrative activities.[13]
Awards and honors
Bahmani has received several regional media and civic recognitions in Bushehr Province.
In February 2026, he won **first place in the headline category** at the **11th Abu Dhar Media Festival of Bushehr Province**, an annual regional media competition organized by the Basij Media Organization. The award was granted by the festival’s jury during the closing ceremony held in Bushehr Province.[14][15]
In September 2024, Bahmani received **first place in the tourism commentary category** at the **second Noon Media Event**, a regional journalism event held in Jam County, Bushehr Province, with participation from local journalists and media professionals.[16]
In March 2025, he was selected as one of the **top youths of Bushehr Province** at Iran’s national *Young of the Year* program, organized under the supervision of the Ministry of Sport and Youth, recognizing civic, media, and local governance activities.[17]
Disqualification and Political Stance
In the lead-up to the seventh round of Iran’s Islamic councils elections, Bahmani was disqualified from participating in the election due to "lack of commitment to Islam, the Islamic system, and the Constitution". This decision was made based on his consistent stance against corruption, injustice, and systematic discrimination, which he had frequently criticized in his political career. In response to the disqualification, Bahmani released a statement rejecting the allegations and asserting that he remains committed to the values of Islam, the Islamic Republic, and the Constitution. He further emphasized that his stance against corruption and injustice is a form of practical adherence to these principles. Bahmani called this disqualification a "medal of honor," recognizing it as a symbol of his fight for justice and against corruption, rather than a stain on his character.[18][19]
