Ecocoast Contracting LLC is a Dubai-based marine engineering company specializing in engineered floating barriers for environmental protection, waterway safety, and security applications.[1] Operating in over 65 countries, the company manufactures silt curtains, oil containment booms, debris barriers, and security systems primarily for marine construction, ports, oil & gas, and defense sectors.[2]
History
Ecocoast Contracting LLC was founded in 2009 by marine engineers Lachlan Jackson and Dana Liparts in Dubai Investment Park 1.[3] The company gained international recognition in 2018 by designing and manufacturing a 600-meter geo-textile screen for The Ocean Cleanup’s Interceptor system targeting the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.[3] The prototype underwent extensive testing at Ecocoast’s Dubai facility before deployment to Malaysia.[3]
In 2021, Ecocoast reported 34% revenue growth for the first half of the year, driven by marine construction and energy sector demand across the Middle East.[4] The same year, the company acquired UK-based Bolina Ltd, adding watercraft safety booms and fendering systems to its product portfolio.[5]
Products and services
Ecocoast manufactures a comprehensive range of floating barriers including: - Ecobarrier® Silt Curtains for sediment control during dredging and reclamation - Oil containment booms for spill response and port protection - Debris booms for waterway management and flood control - Watercraft safety booms for swimmer separation and event security - Security barriers for naval base and critical infrastructure protection[6]
The company follows a "4D framework" of Design, Deliver, Deploy, and Dismantle for sustainable marine infrastructure projects.[7]
Operations
Ecocoast maintains manufacturing facilities in Dubai Investment Park 1 and Yanbu Industrial City, Saudi Arabia to support regional infrastructure projects including Saudi Vision 2030 initiatives.[8] The company has supplied equipment for notable installations including Europe’s longest debris boom on the Albert Canal in Belgium and swimmer safety systems across UAE marinas.[9]
